Cost of living expenses are reasonable. Homeowners insurance is low due to no huge threats from hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, snowstorms, etc....and Canyon Lake, TX has no city taxes. This increases your buying power a lot!
Friendly smaller town atmosphere found at Canyon Lake but close to the big cities for convenience. Great climate and weather. Gets a little hot in the summer, but the breeze from being on top of the hills or from the lake makes sitting outdoors pleasant.
